Thinking About Trying Drugs? This RSKO Jakarta Health Education Session Made SMK Sari Putra Students Think Twice

Jakarta, July 17, 2025 – RSKO Jakarta conducted a health education program on the dangers of substance abuse at SMK Sari Putra, attended by approximately 64 new students from the Office Administration Automation (OTKP) and Logistics Management programs.

SMK Sari Putra is located in North Jakarta at Jl. Kebon Baru Gg IV Blok X No. 25, Semper Barat, Cilincing, North Jakarta.

July marks the beginning of the School Orientation Program (MPLS) for new students. During this important transition period, students are introduced to the school environment, learning culture, and positive values that will support their educational journey.

SMK Sari Putra invited RSKO Jakarta to help students better understand a student-friendly orientation program while increasing their awareness of the dangers of substance abuse.

Drug abuse has become a major concern for parents, educators, and society. The misuse of narcotics, psychotropic substances, and other addictive substances (NAPZA), commonly known as drugs, has been recognized as an extraordinary crime due to its significant impact on individuals, families, and communities.

According to reports published by Indonesia's public broadcaster RRI, the North Jakarta Metro Police uncovered 19 narcotics-related criminal cases during Operation Nila Jaya 2025. The operation, conducted from June 16 to June 25, 2025, was part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse in Jakarta.

As a one-stop service provider for substance use disorder treatment and rehabilitation, RSKO Jakarta welcomed the opportunity to participate in the school orientation program as part of its commitment to protecting Indonesia's younger generation through health promotion and preventive education.

RSKO Jakarta Team Participation

The health education team consisted of:

  • Tiomaida Seviana Hasmidawati Hasugian, SH, M.AP – Director of Human Resources, Education, and Research
  • Andri Kusmintayu, SKM., MARS – Assistant Manager of Supporting Services
  • Intan Endang Sonata, SKM, MKM – Junior Public Health Educator

To ensure effective communication and interaction, students were divided into two classes of approximately 30 participants each.

During the session, RSKO Jakarta's health educators strongly encouraged students never to experiment with drugs or addictive substances.

The program introduced students to different types of narcotics and addictive substances, helping them recognize potential risks and empowering them to refuse offers or invitations to use drugs.

Understanding NAPZA

NAPZA is an acronym for Narcotics, Psychotropic Substances, and Other Addictive Substances.

Substance abuse refers to the use of substances that alter a person's thoughts, feelings, and behavior without a legitimate medical purpose or in amounts exceeding medically acceptable limits.

How Students Can Avoid Drug Abuse

Students were encouraged to:

  • Choose positive and supportive friendships.
  • Help friends avoid negative influences.
  • Remain alert to peer pressure, threats, coercion, manipulation, or persuasion.
  • Avoid environments and locations known for drug-related activities.
  • Participate in positive and productive activities.

The session emphasized that high school-aged adolescents are particularly vulnerable to experimentation and risk-taking behaviors. Therefore, understanding the dangers of substance abuse is essential during this stage of life.

For many tenth-grade students, adolescence is a period of curiosity and exploration. They are often eager to try new experiences without fully understanding the potential consequences.

The educators compared young minds to sponges, absorbing large amounts of information that may not always be critically evaluated. This makes proper guidance and health education especially important.

To keep students engaged, the education program used an interactive two-way communication approach.

  • Prizes for active participants
